With China increasing exports from refineries to offset the imports of crude, and the increasing production of oil domestically as it taps new oil fields, the fundamentals for crude oil demand are also changing in China. This process is likely to accelerate with crude imports also going to small refiners now allowed to import crude. A sharp slowdown in car sales with declies in sales in June and July 2015, is likely to keep demand from automobiles for gasoline in check.

In 2010 with over 70% increase in the automobile population in China gasoline demand increased by about 3%. A key reason is that older fuel consuming vehicles are replace with the much more fuel efficient new models. The government is also encouraging the sale of smaller cars which have higher fuel efficiency. This has made it possible for China to make the conversion to a high automobile using nation in the space of one decade without putting to much stress on oil demand and prices.

Efforts in 2011-2012 to build China's strategic petroleum reserve from the existing 100 million barrels- or about 12 days supply- to a much larger reserve, will have an impact on world oil prices. This may push prices to triple digits in 2011-2012, say analysts.

Large oil importing countries such as China and India see the Iran deal very favorably as sanction limited oil imports. The deal also increases the probability of a sustained period of low oil prices which favors importers as Iranian crude flows into world markets. India with problems in its coal industry is faced with high oil import costs constraining growth, and China with large debt and other problems cosntraining growth, see the prospect of low cost oil imports for an extended period as an opportunity.

Saudi Arabia acting as a swing producer adjusted oil production to keep prices from falling in the period before 2015. Following the sharp drop in oil prices to below $50 in early 2015, prices steadied to about $65 for Brent crude in June 2015. The Saudi oil minister Naimi says he takes the long view on oil prices, and decides to continue Saudi production at earlier levels in June 2015. In a period of declining oil prices the Saudis and OPEC continue to produce oil at the same levels as before.

We took a different way to help millions around the world build educated informed mindsets that affects and shapes their lives. For a future that is open, global and digital, with everyone having access to high quality information. We believe in the renewal of America, renewal of Europe, the renewal of India, the rest of Asia, Latin America and Africa. The renewal of our supply chains, health, education, infrastructure, as we rebuild our countries after the pandemic. Literacy and knowledge we believe cannot thrive and grow in a world of web bots, web crawlers, or AI. This requires human curiosity, human learning, and human imagination. We take as inspiration the saying- “One has to be free, and as broad as sky. One has to have a mind that is crystal clear, only then can truth shine in it.” Every contribution whether big or small is precious- in this crisis and ahead.
