Failure of the Byron Dorgan legislation by 9 votes in the Senate even thogh a coalition of Democrats and Republicans support it, with the Obama Administration opposing it. Average fuel economy of all new vehicles purchased in the U.S. and average estimated emissions per U.S. driver

01/23/2008

Information on fuel economy mpg for cars added to the American fleet tracks progress on fuel economy and meeting the U.S. goals of reducing reliance on imported oil. The estimate of emissions per driver show progress on reducing automobile emissions in the U.S., a key factor in overall emissions. This also indirectly shows the progress attainable in emerging market countries because the same manufacturers operate there and are able to bring new models with higher efficiency into these markets to reduce overall consumption and emissions. This is especially true for China and India where fuel needs and emissions for large demographics are becoming a major concern.

Reviews of "This Time is Different" by Rogoff and Reinhart

01/21/2008

Boom, bust cycles, with high indebtedness, asset bubbles, and unsustainable current account deficits are followed by long periods of slow or nonexistent growth say Rogoff and Reinhart in their new book. This raises questions about the now current hypothesis that economic recovery will take place in 2011-2013. As the book's title suggests there are long periods in history that show this and it is gaining in credibility as the column by David Wessel in the Wall Street Journal July 21,2011, suggests.

We took a different way to help millions around the world build educated informed mindsets that affects and shapes their lives. For a future that is open, global and digital, with everyone having access to high quality information. We believe in the renewal of America, renewal of Europe, the renewal of India, the rest of Asia, Latin America and Africa. The renewal of our supply chains, health, education, infrastructure, as we rebuild our countries after the pandemic. Literacy and knowledge we believe cannot thrive and grow in a world of web bots, web crawlers, or AI. This requires human curiosity, human learning, and human imagination. We take as inspiration the saying- “One has to be free, and as broad as sky. One has to have a mind that is crystal clear, only then can truth shine in it.” Every contribution whether big or small is precious- in this crisis and ahead.
