Rousseff, Bachelet in Chile and Mujica in Uruguay, were detained and tortured by the military dictatorships in their countries and later became president. It is a sign of the change that that has happened in Latin America that these leaders rarely talk about their experience having changed since their days as students, and with the wave of democratic governments in the last two decades that have transformed the economy and achieved goals in a peaceful way.

Stockman sees a failure to recognize budget reality in Obama's plan to avoid taxes on the middle class. He also sees a similiar failure in Paul Ryan's effort to shield defense and the rich, while at the same time focussing most of the cuts on the poorer sections of society. He says both plans put off cuts and taxes till way into the future- from 12 years to 20 years into the future.

Mexico's recovery from the global financial crisis of 2008 and the growing middle class. The last 5 years have seen a surge in growth in three large Latin American economies Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, especially the growth of a middle class. Trade between Mexico and the U.S. now approaches the $502 billion in trade between the U.S. and China, as it increased by 17% to $461 billion in 2011. Foreign investment in Mexico's auto, retail, and aerospace sectors are success stories.

A record of few prosecutions of senior executives of the companies that engaged in practices that led to the financial crisis of 2008. Various reasons are cited - the fragility of the financial system in 2009, the lack of cooperation from regulatory agencies, lack of funding for the FBI and the Justice Department to assign special staff for the effort.

Brazil's fertility rate has dropped from 6.1 children per woman in 1960 to less than 1.9 in 2010. The U.S. is at 2.0, which is enough to keep the population stable. The change is visible throughout Latin America, from Chile and Mexico to Ecuador. The fertility rate in Latin America has dropped from about 6 children per woman in 1960 to 2.3 in 2010. Causes given by experts are the migration to urban areas, the changes in lifestyles, the influence of television and soap operas showing smaller affluent families, better health care, education and career choices for women. What is exceptional about Brazil is that this is happening in poor and affluent areas alike, in rural and urban areas alike.

We took a different way to help millions around the world build educated informed mindsets that affects and shapes their lives. For a future that is open, global and digital, with everyone having access to high quality information. We believe in the renewal of America, renewal of Europe, the renewal of India, the rest of Asia, Latin America and Africa. The renewal of our supply chains, health, education, infrastructure, as we rebuild our countries after the pandemic. Literacy and knowledge we believe cannot thrive and grow in a world of web bots, web crawlers, or AI. This requires human curiosity, human learning, and human imagination. We take as inspiration the saying- “One has to be free, and as broad as sky. One has to have a mind that is crystal clear, only then can truth shine in it.” Every contribution whether big or small is precious- in this crisis and ahead.
