Used car prices are up 45% since 2019 putting used cars at average price $28000. It is not a discretionary cost, one needs a car to get to work in the US. There are cases of young people not able to pay soaring repair costs quitting work without transport. This is why there was so much discontent in 2024 after supply shocks and price gouging pushed up prices in 2024. Another factor evident in airline ticket pricing was demand and the excess income of the top 20 percent. In housing and apartment rentals supply shortages pushed up prices, demand and excess income of the top 20-30 percent pushed up prices beyond the reach of the rest, higher interest rates made it unaffordable to buy a home for most Americans.

The failure of the establishment of both parties in the USA to take action in the face of the loss of 5.6 million jobs in the last decade, with $4.3 trillion in trade imbalances. An issue which resonates with voters in the US and could lead to a fundamental realignent of American attitudes to globalization and free trade. The feeling that the free-trade deck is stacked against the USA by Asian countries. China's efforts to keep the yuan dollar exchange rate at levels that favor exports. China's accumulation of over $3 trillion in dollar reserves that are parked mostly in Treasury's that keep U.S. interests low. Distortons in the global economy from the failure to rebalance the world economy hurts China and the U.S.

Structural problems like a mismatch of skills between maufacturing and construction sectors worst hit since 2008 and growing sectors like healthcare is one problem. Geographic factors and difficulty selling homes in states like Michigan is another. The tighter credit from a return of banking sector losses from bad home equity loans that is expected in late 2010 will keep the recovery from taking hold keeping unemployment high. The economic uncertainty following repeated budget battles between political parties also affects business investment.

We took a different way to help millions around the world build educated informed mindsets that affects and shapes their lives. For a future that is open, global and digital, with everyone having access to high quality information. We believe in the renewal of America, renewal of Europe, the renewal of India, the rest of Asia, Latin America and Africa. The renewal of our supply chains, health, education, infrastructure, as we rebuild our countries after the pandemic. Literacy and knowledge we believe cannot thrive and grow in a world of web bots, web crawlers, or AI. This requires human curiosity, human learning, and human imagination. We take as inspiration the saying- “One has to be free, and as broad as sky. One has to have a mind that is crystal clear, only then can truth shine in it.” Every contribution whether big or small is precious- in this crisis and ahead.
