About 51% agree it will strengthen the German economy, 45% disagree, the same numbers are seen for whether Germany's services for housing, education and healthcare will be stretched. Over 50% think it will lead to more terrorist incidents. About the same number see the policy favorably in the Green Party as see it unfavorably in the AfD party, the parties on either side of the political spectrum. Overall says DW.com it appears to be balanced for negative and positive sentiment.

Wall Street Journal 09/25/2015
Some say if prime minister Orban of Hungary had not acted the way he did, the German government would have had more time to consider the situation. As it happened the German government and chancellor Merkel had to decide in a few hours. If Budapest, Berlin and other EU nations had communicated better the situation could have been handled in a better way instead of the sudden unplanned movement of refugees into Germany and Austria.

40,000 migrants were expected in the weekend of September 12-13 alone in Germany. Germany was getting close to its limits in handling the rapid influx of migrants from the Austrian border. On Sept. 13 Germany reintroduced border controls which were lifted for Syrian refugees on Sept. 3 as a humanitarian gesture. The border controls were also a message to Europe, said Germany's Interior Minister, Mr. Maiziere, that the Schengen Agreement allowing passport free travel in the 26 EU countries itself was at stake.

Over 464,000 members of the SDP Party in Germany will vote on whether the SDP should join a coalition with the Christian Democrats led by Angela Merkel. The CDU is 5 seats short of a majority in the German parliament. after 2013 elecions. Younger members of the SDP fear the SDP is moving away from its working class roots and has fared worse in elections after joining an earlier coalition with the Christian Democrats. Younger members carry placards at party meetings showing a smaller SDP fish being swallowed by the larger CDU.

The huge difference in the U.S. and German resettlement of Syria's refugees. About half the population of Syria is dslocated in a tragedy of massive proportions for a country of 23 million- additional numbers of refugees are spread out in Iraq and Libya. The U.S. withdrawal from the Middle East under the Obama administration led to a worsening of the crisis in Iraq, Syria and Libya, and the unraveling of the fragile situation in these countries. The result is the flow of migrants to Europe by the hundreds of thousands in 2015. German chancellor Merkel will be remembered in history for the courage to say in Sept 2015- "If Europe fails on the question of refugees, its close connection with universal civil rights will be destroyed." And for rallying German society to the work of integrating refugees with the openness of educational institutions and civil society, especially in the urban areas.

We took a different way to help millions around the world build educated informed mindsets that affects and shapes their lives. For a future that is open, global and digital, with everyone having access to high quality information. We believe in the renewal of America, renewal of Europe, the renewal of India, the rest of Asia, Latin America and Africa. The renewal of our supply chains, health, education, infrastructure, as we rebuild our countries after the pandemic. Literacy and knowledge we believe cannot thrive and grow in a world of web bots, web crawlers, or AI. This requires human curiosity, human learning, and human imagination. We take as inspiration the saying- “One has to be free, and as broad as sky. One has to have a mind that is crystal clear, only then can truth shine in it.” Every contribution whether big or small is precious- in this crisis and ahead.
