France's foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, has sounded a warning about a nuclear agreement with Iran in the past. In 2013 he warned the West not to get drawn into a "fools game." In an intervew with the WSJ on May 31, 2015, he says without proper verification which includes military sites a nuclear agreement with Iran is meaningless. He points to the dangers of other countries in the region saying the agreement lacks clout and opting for developing nuclear weapons.

France and the issue of full inspection and verification, including military sites, of a nuclear deal with Iran

06/01/2015

With the Ayatollah Khamanei saying Iran's "brazen enemy" will be denied access to military sites and to Iranian scientists, and France's foreign minister calling any agreement- regardless of how good it is- without full inspection being meaningless, the two sides are far apart.

The major factor in the 2015 Iran nuclear negotiations- a 12 month non-negotiable "breakout window" and the checks needed to enforce it

03/21/2015

The "breakout window" is a term that refers to the time it would take for Iran to break out of an agreement controlling its weapons development and rushing towards development of a nuclear weapon. Britain, France and the U.S. agree that a minimum of 12 months is needed. Surveillance efforts will have to be intensified even with a deal to see that it is enforced.
