There is intense price competition in the PC market with smaller margins. This affects H-P, Lenovo, Dell, Acer and other PC makers. The introduction of Microsoft 8 has failed to reverse this trend.

Predictions by Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, that tablets will replace PC's in the number of units sold, some time soon. Analysts estimate this to be sometime between 2013-2017. The reason being that PC sales are flat and iPad sales are simply soaring. PC sales were 20 times tablets in 2010, then 10 times tablets in 2011.
