Small cars sales move up quickly from 12.5% to 20% of vehicles sold. Market is running at 12.5 million vehicles in May 2008. The small car share will rise much higher as supplies increase, currently small cars sell quickly and are in short supply especially for Hona Fit and Civic cars and the Ford Focus.

Sheila Bair 's proposal to help homeowners is similar to what Martin Feldstein proposed on the pages of WSJ on March 7, 2008. About 2 months later FDIC proposes to take action to help homeowners by offering homeowners with debt to income ratios above 40%, a loan from the government for 20% of their loan amount with no interest charged for the first 5 years, and loan payments required to be lowered to affordable numbers.

The new small car from Tata will meet current and future European emissions standards Mr. Tata said in an interview. There were doubts in the NYTimes of Jan 8, 2008 about the emissions, and it was thought that this car would just meet the lower Indian emissions standards. If this is true then this is part of the foresight of the vision of Ratan Tata. In fact Tata said that it was easier to meet the emissions standards than to meet the crash and safety standards because of the lightness of the car.

Southwest has been fighting this law passed as an amendment to an aviation law by U.S. House Speaker Jim Wright in 1979. Its intention was giving American Airlines the incentive to build a giant hub at the new 1974 Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
