Local team Rayados play here and  multinational drinks company FEMSA funded the $200 million to build the stadium. Rayados has asked Sergio Ramos of Spain to join and it plays another local team Tigres every year with about 51,000 fans in the stadium. Women's soccer is also popular in Mexico.

This Washington Post reporter says he was greeted by one as he got out of the subway at the exit of Nanterre Prefecture Metro station. They volunteered without pay and enjoy a new experience.

France is tightening up on vaccine passes making them mandatory and imposing bigger penalties for fake passes. Fine of 5 years in jail or 75,000 euros for use of fake vaccine passes and stricter penalties for stores not checking the pass. Vaccine passes are mandatory in stores, public transport and venues in France. The goal is to get the remaining unvaccinated to get vaccines as omicron variant of the virus reaches 200,000 new cases a day in France.

A study done by the Hudson Institute shows an increase in sales of 5.5% on average in same store sales of restaurants which increased lower calorie items on the menu. The reverse is taking place for restaurants that have neglected to do this, with these restaurants experiencing a decline in sales. This was based on research firm NPD and restaurant data at 21 fast-food and sit-down restaurant chains between 2006 and 2011. Chains that include lower calorie counts on menus include Panera, McDonalds, Denny's and Au Bon Pain chain. Federal regulations will require restaurants with 20 or more outlets to post the calorie counts in early 2014. The process of moving Americans away from eating habits that lead to obesity is moving at a slow pace. Margo Wootan, director of nutrition policy at the Center of Science in the Public Interest, says large serving sizes at restaurants lead to overeating and obesity. Frequency of eating at restaurants is another problem, with studies showing women who eat out more than 5 times a week take in about 290 calories each day compared to women who do not eat out that often. The healthy options at restaurants are still restricted to a small portion of menus and healthy choices are limited....

Taylor Swift Era's Tour gives a boost to local economies in the hospitality and entertainment sector. In Colorado 2 Taylor Swift shows added $140 million to the state's GDP. Occupancy records in cities in the US and Asia are broken with these Swift tours. The Swift concerts will play at many cities in Europe including Cardiff and Liverpool. Then why are concerts only in Singapore and Tokyo in Asian venues. Singapore provided additional funding for the concerts which could add with other concerts about $300 million to the local economy. Swift has a large following in Japan with people waiting camped overnight for these concerts.

Studies that show coronavirus cases are just as prevalent in the younger age groups 15-34 years as with older Germans. One such study uses data from the Robert Koch Institute and published in Eurosurveillance, a journal on infectious diseases. In this study scientists conclude that relative risk (RR) for coronavirus for residents of Germany 15-34 years, and particularly 20-24 years, was noticeably higher than in all other age groups. This study also determined that similar patterns emerged in South Korea where 20-29 years old age group had the highest number of detected cases.

This DW.com report attributes this higher coronavirus cases in younger age groups to work in high contact jobs in service industries, and to greater use of public transport. Laxity early on in following social distancing guidelines is also mentioned as a cause. Other causes could be greater attendance in sports stadiums and music venues.

These are also not essential activities as work and office, employees working at companies or in manufacturing, which are essential to the economy.  This is why in terms of priority sports and leisure travel can be deferred till a vaccine is developed. France has made the health pass for coronavirus mandatory for leisure and cultural venues starting July 21. The health pass will be mandatory for having a coffee, eating at a restaurant, or shopping in a mall from the beginning of August. The health pass is already in use in some form in many European Union countries. Denmark and Austria are using it for 2 months. Germany and Portugal are using it regionally depending on where the epidemic is severe. Greece which has a surge of tourism in summer from other EU countries is making it mandatory starting July 16 for entry into shops and restaurants. It was the absence of  any form of constraints on behavior in places such as Croatia with high tourism in summer that increased the surge in Germany and Austria last summer. Italy and Ireland are planning to make vaccination mandatory following France as the number of cases from the variants increase. Establishments that are violators of the mandatory rule in France will be fined 45,000 euros and persons responsible having to spend 1 year in prison. A year from now at this time in February 2026 we will have the Winter Olympics in the Italian Alps in Milan-Cortina. In the Alps in Italy stretching all the way to the Swiss and Austrian borders. This is a large mountainous region. The Washington Post takes a look at this region. The trip between venues can take 12 hours by train and bus. The 2026 Winter Olympis to reduce cost is being done by instead of building facilities to use 7 mountain villages in Italy reached only by narrow winding roads and need trips that will take many hours. This is a huge logistics effort moving athletes and people around.

The British prime minister now goes for a run with his dog first thing in the morning. He says about his life after the coronavirus recovery that he is steadily building up his fitness. He has good things to say about the run, the exercize in the morning. After the run says Boris everything for the rest of the day is a breeze. A quite gentle run in the beginning that is getting faster and faster as he improves his fitness.  One does not have to go to the gym to lose weight. There is always the great outdoors, space outside the home. As part of the effort to get Britain to cut all that unnecessary fat which is ruinous for healthy living, Britain will now ban all buy one get one free deals on unhealthy food products. All food in restaurants and pubs will soon be required to post the calories count on menus, starting with the bigger chains. Boris Johnson says he is supporting the NHS and the national campaign for fitness and cutting out all the unnecessary calories that have crept into people's food habits and intake. He never intended this but Johnson like others have learned from one experience that has compressed several lifetimes of experience trying to recover from the virus without the fitness of body that is needed.      ...
