Mr. Trump trashes the state of Florida and calls it "a dump" says the Editorial Board of WSJ, because of personal interest as the 2024 primaries come closer. "The real DeSantis record is one of misery and despair. He has left a wake of destruction all across Florida," is the quote from a spokesman, in a statement issued by Mr. Trump. WSJ says that is not how Floridans saw it when DeSantis was elected with 59.4% of the vote. DJT executive orders include one ending birthright citizenship. “It was really meant for children of slaves." DJT is referring to the 14th Amendment that was passed in 1868 by Congress and ratified by 1868 by the states. It came after the Civil War and Emancipation of slaves and was intended without any doubt for one and only one purpose to make slaves citizens of the United States Look at Section 4 of the 14th Amendment which says the United States will not allow any claim for the loss of any slave. "But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void. The only SC decision in US vs Wong Kim that gave citizenship in 1898 to Wong Kim was not intended to go beyond that particular case, it was only meant to make an exception to the Chinese Exclusion Act  of 1882 after which till 1960 (JFK's election) Chinese immigration to the US was stopped, and the same for all Asians. Only immigrant labor allowed in was from Mexico for agriculture till 1960. And in 1954 Operation Wetback wwas conducted by Eisenhower to return about 1 million illegal immigrants to Mexico. DJT says- “It was not meant for everyone to come into our country by airplane, or charging across the borders from all over the world and think they’re going to become citizens.” The millions that came illegally across land border  and the flow of drugs is a new situation that Congress and the Supreme Court are only facing since 2014 a period in which wars in Afghanistan and Iraq took time and resources away from problems at home. ...

In his comments at the Congressional Institute DJT says his tariffs plan resulted in China cancelling building the largest automobile plant in the world just across the US border in Mexico to export these cars to the US. That plant was planned for a capacity of 1 million cars a year which would have hit the US auto industry hard. One in particular is massive. So they are going to build cars and send them to the US, for no tax or little tax, and destroy whats left of Detroit." "Mexico has taken 32% of business over 30 years. The other is Canada. They send us millions of cars. We don't need them for that. I said to hime when is this going to open. A couple of months. It will openin 1.5 years. I said I am not happy about that. And I said in my next speech I'm going to charge them. No cars coming ino the United States from Mexico without a massive tariff. I said it 3 or 4 times and what happened is about 2 months later I saw the same gentleman in the audience and I said I want to see you backstage. I said let me ask you what happened to that plant. Where is it now? He said China has canceled it. Why? Because they think you are going to be elected and charge tariffs on the cars coming in and it doesn't work."  "So Detroit will breathe and we are going to do the opposite. Canadian prime minister Trudeau met with DJT at Mar-a-Lago. DJT said Mexico and Canada are not doing enough to stop flow of drugs in particular fentanyl into the US, and undocumented migrants. This report in the WSJ points to Democrats having won consistently 18 states plus District of Columbia adding upto 242 Electoral College votes in every election since 1992. Democrats need 28 more to cross the needed 270 votes. Republicans consistently having 13 states with 102 electoral College votes. Demographic changes in recent years have shifted to where Hillary Clinton may not need to devote resources to Colorado and Virginia because of a more favorable position there.  Carrying Pennsylvania with these 2 states would put Clinton over the 270 required. Vice Presidential candidate for Clinton, Senator Keane is from Virginia and is popular in the state.  Pennsylvania has a long history favoring Democrats. North Carolina has also seen demographic changes favoring Democrats. The Clinton campaign is focussing ads on these states as well as the swing states of Nevada, Iowa and New Hampshire, as well as Georgia, Arizona and Utah which are becoming competitive for Democrats. By keeping up the effort in Georgia, Arizona and Utah, Clinton hopes to make Trump divert resources there. Other two swing states are Ohio and Florida, but this WSJ report says Clinton has to win only one of the four swing states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina to go over 270 and Trump needs all four. Of the 20 media markets Clinton or her super PACs have focussed their ads on 16 are in these 4 states. The Clinton campaign is looking at several alternative routes to 270 Electoral College votes, which gives it more flexibility to plan the campaign.  ...

It was critical for a Bush win over Gore, and president Obama carried it by 2 points against Romney in 2012. It is critical for Trump to win. Ohio senator J.D. Vance is chosen by Trump as his running mate. He came to know Trump Jr. in 2021 and the two are shown to be close. He was elected Ohio Senator with Trump's endorsement. His thinking and style is similar to the former president which may have led to his choice over Marco Rubio of Florida and Borghum of North Dakota. About 25 percent more Hispanics would be eligible to vote in 2016. Hillary Clinton planned early to mobilize the 27 million Hispanic voters in 2016. She had as the person leading her Latino Outreach effort an undocumented woman worker from Peru, who with other women built the organization from the ground up. Often women and their daughters would go from door to door to talk to Hispanic people and could see the anger among Hispanics in states such as Florida about Mr. Trump's statements. Only 48% of Hispanics voted in 2012 compared to 64% for whites, and the campaign was determined to change this and galvanize the Hispanic vote for Hillary in the way this had been done for black people during the Obama campaigns in 2008 and 2012. Hillary Clinton also changed her campaign theme to support immigration and a path to citizenship in a way that even president Obama had not done. Hillary was critical of Mr. Obama's deportation policy and the breaking up of families. She promised to act on immigration in the first 100 days. By building up a grassroots effort for the Hispanic community,  and also talking to Puerto Ricans who now makeup a large part of the changing demographics in Florida, Clinton was able to energize Latinos to vote in large numbers in 2016. In Florida about 1 million votes had been cast by Hispanics by Nov 6, 2016, out of 6.2 million votes, a 75% increase from 2012. Nevada saw a similar pattern of voting. ...

This report in the WSJ says Reince Preibus, Republican National Committee chairman, has told party officials on Oct. 8, 2016, to redirect party funds away from nominee Trump to down-ballot candidates. This means the Republican party will try to get Clinton supporters to vote who are likely to vote for candidates like Rubio in Florida and Portman in Ohio. Republican Portman has joined Senator McCain in withdrawing support for Trump. This is the result of a video showing Trump making lewd comments about women in a conversation with Billy Bush of NBC. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, immediately disinvited Trump from a rally in Wisconsin and withdrew his support leading to a big outflow of support from Congressman and Republican leaders. A former chairman of the Republican party in California describes this as the biggest crisis for Republicans since Watergate. The Republican party now stops its mail program to voters that supported Trump and redirects it to down-ballot candidates. It also comes as the Republican party funds and party infrastructure are a necessary and vital  part of any Republican nominee's effort to get elected. The Republican strategy may now be to try and preserve its control of Congress, as a loss in Wisconsin, Illinois or Missouri, could give the Democrats control of the Senate and other losses reduce its House majority. This appears to be the backup strategy of Paul Ryan as Speaker, and the leading Republican after his overwhelming win in his Senate seat against a Trump supported candidate. ...
