A biologist and a gynecologist at Cambridge University solve the problems for in vitro fertilization leading to 4 million babies for people with infertility problems. The two researchers were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 2010 about three decades after their research efforts led to the first babies from this method.
