Yelena Chizhova and her Russian Booker Prize winning "Time for Women"

"Time for Women" looks at Russia before the 1990's, from the war period including the siege of Leningrad to the Brezhnev period, describing the lives of ordinary Russian women facing the system, war, and the difficulties of growing up during this period. Chizhova's says her grandmother matter of factly described conditions from the siege of Leningrad, that remain in her memory as she confronts the Russia of today.
