The move up the Mediterranean coast to seize an oil refinery in Zawiyah 30 miles from Tripoli, after moving through through the Nafusah mountains in the west. All the time cutting off supplies to the capital and pushing the Gaddafi forces back into the open towards Tripoli, where NATO airstrikes were effective. The rebel army was resupplied with weapons from Qatari special forces and many received military training in Qatar. British and French military advisers provided assistance and aerial/satellite photographs. British, French and Qatari troops provided weapons, fuel, medicine and food. NATO airplanes and predator drones attacked targets as the rebels advanced.
