The two tumultuous weeks in July 2024 started with a sniper shooting at the former president, followed by the Republican Convention within days. The president's address calling for calm, Trump's 90 RNC address which rambled to veer off course. Second thoughts about Trump and Biden's age and calls by Democrats for Biden to withdraw after the faltering delivery in the debate. Biden has Covid and isolates for a few days. On July 22 around 1.45 pm Biden puts out a letter on X (Twitter) that he is withdrawing and giving his full support to Kamala. Within hours Harris has overwhelming support. The next day morning Harris has secured the delegates needed. By the 24th in 48 hours she has raised $250 million for the campaign and about 100,000 volunteers. A dizzying pace for 48 hours that riveted the attention of the American people and the world.

By April 2023 with winter over it is clear that Europe has come out of the winter season with its economy intact after shutdown of pipeline gas from the pipelines in Russia. A lot of action was taken in a short time- Germany's Habeck went to Qatar and other countries to secure LNG supplies, a new LNG terminal was built at Wilhelmshaven in record time, Norway and the US pitched in with more supplies, conservation went into high gear, and renewable energy investments were accelerated. There is no recession in the European Union as a result of this effort. And in this sense and with the Ukrainian economy functioning, generators taking Ukraine through a tough winter, EU taking in 80% of Ukraine agricultural exports, and supermarket shelves kept well stocked, refugees settled in Poland and Germany, the war has already been decided. The principle of no impunity for attacks on neighboring countries has been preserved by the EU acting together to protect itself.

Much lower incomes for the 40% of Chinese who live in rural areas, and the worsening inequality during the pandemic with workers losing jobs or on low pay, with China lacking a system of unemployment insurance like the US and EU countries, have created a new urgency for president Xi to tackle these problems. Glaring inequality with IPO's creating new millionaires or billionaires are frowned upon and president Xi personally axed the Ant IPO. After a crackdown on corruption involving about 1 million people, Xi has shifted investment to rural areas to improve conditions of living. State run enterprises are seen as more reliable in achieving Xi's vision of less inequality after the excesses of unregulated capitalist development since 1990.

US president Biden is pushing ahead with infrastructure spending on a big scale. He no longer seeks support from Republicans as he does not want to see the plans shrink. He is able to do this because the American people now have new perceptions about the role of government. They see it as indispensable in trade, global supply chains, protecting American technology, and in keeping America ahead with the latest infrastructure, skills development with education, healthcare that keeps Americans healthy.

Two crises back to back in 2010 and 2020 which set back the working class, the middle class and the poor, and the neglect of capital allocation to healthcare, education, infrastructure. Pope Francis calls for a culture that feels others pain, that "gives access to all to the fruits of creation, to the basic needs of life: to land, lodging, and labor." The Trump Business task force has two tasks. How to respond to the economic damage from coronavirus and how to reopen the economy. The president is fine with reopening parts of the economy at a time, with the federal government working together with state governors - the least risk ones going first, the most risk ones coming last done on the advice of health experts. Testing and virus tracking are key issues in reopening the economy with systems that are both efficient and reliable needed for public to have confidence.

US sanctioned India with 50% tariff for buying Russian oil saying it finances RUssia's war against Ukraine and daily deadly missile strikes. ein dollar terms are now insignificant at $2-the 3 billion. In fact India is already shifting to getting more of its imports from the Middle East. India could also import additional oil from the US and make changes to import non grain and non dairy agricultural products from the US in large volumes such as almonds, walnuts, pistachios, blueberries, cherries that it's upper middle class population of 250 million could benefit from the nutritional benefits. US in its fight against the pharmaceutical companies high pricing could change laws to bring in Indian pharmaceutical products at 10-15% price above Indian prices set by the government to meet needs of its large population. In pharma product pricing India leads the whole world and this benefit would lower the cost of living in the US tremendously. Both sides would benefit in a WIn-WIn relationship in trade- THIS IS ACHIEVABLE FOR THE INTERESTS OF AMERICANS AND INDIANS. IT ONLY REQUIRES VISION OF BOTH SIDES.

The debt ceiling standoff with a small faction in the Republican party calling for cuts in spending where it is needed for workers and families in America. In the US system even though spending is approved a debt ceiling can be passed that limits overall spending requiring another approval if the ceiling is exceeded for approved spending. In the past this was negotiated. Today this faction in the Republican party is calling for large cuts in the very areas that were neglected in the past and which urgently need funding leading to Biden's response. Infrastructure, renewable energy, education, healthcare, public services, workers and families were neglected and now need strong backing.

The $369 billion Biden Bill on Climate is the biggest bill ever. It was put through with Biden's fellow senators and his long experience in the Senate of the US through the efforts of Senator Coon and Hickenlooper who took a new approach to negotiating with Senator Manchin appealing to his place in history and in the party. Biden said while signing the bill "Joe I never doubted for a moment." Senator Schumer of New York did the negotiations and persevered till the end when Manchin was on board. Adjustments were made to allow increase in drilling to bring down oil prices to create a win-win for all so that it could be called The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 as pharmaceutical prices would also come down with the government retaking the right to negotiate pharmaceutical prices lost under Republicans. It is also a Win for Europe, India, and the World.

We took a different way to help millions around the world build educated informed mindsets that affects and shapes their lives. For a future that is open, global and digital, with everyone having access to high quality information. We believe in the renewal of America, renewal of Europe, the renewal of India, the rest of Asia, Latin America and Africa. The renewal of our supply chains, health, education, infrastructure, as we rebuild our countries after the pandemic. Literacy and knowledge we believe cannot thrive and grow in a world of web bots, web crawlers, or AI. This requires human curiosity, human learning, and human imagination. We take as inspiration the saying- “One has to be free, and as broad as sky. One has to have a mind that is crystal clear, only then can truth shine in it.” Every contribution whether big or small is precious- in this crisis and ahead.
