Analysts say the 11.7 billion in cash Chrysler has and the $6 billion in savings generated from merging both companies operations is what GM is interested in not Chrysler's models and plants. GM needs $10.3 billion in fresh cash till next year according to Barclays Capital analyst Brian Johnson, at which point savings from a union contract and sales boost from models like the Chevy Cruze and Volt extended electric car could kick in.
