About 15,000 tons of plastic waste are produced daily in India, of which only 9000 tons are recycled. The remaining plastic clogs drains and ends up in landfills. This report in NDTV shows how countries such as Uganda, Sweden, Scotland are dealing with the problem. Recycled plastic is used in innovative ways to produce 3D glasses, to build roads, and in other ways. House to house education is done in Uganda to prevent plastic from clogging drains. Filling plastic bottles with soil and filling up land for construction of homes is an innovative way used in Uganda to prevent the bottles clogging up drains and leading to floods.
