A former Conservative chairman Christopher Patten, who is chancellor of Oxford University called this an "extraordianry example of outrageous and foolish behaviour." Others called it a sign of McCarthyism in Britain. It also goes to show how tense the situation has become in Britain, with the Daily Mail newspaper that supports Brexit's anti-immigrant stance adding to the tension with its coverage. Even Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney has not come out unscathed, with some Conservative lawmakers calling him "enemy of Brexit."
