Bill Thomas of the Institute for Aging at the University of Maryland is trying to change conciousness in the U.S. and overseas about aging. He sees it as a special period with its own value just as youthful years are. The AARP is supporting his efforts to change perceptions about aging and to get people to see the value that they can bring to society at an older age, and the different creative things that can bring them joy and meaning in life.
