China plans to invest $46 billion to build the transportation route to link China to the Arabian Sea through Pakistan. Investments includes help with electricity projects to meet Pakistan's growing electricity needs. China also hopes this will bring more investment and diverse population to its western region to counteract separatist sentiment.
