Corfu and other airports generate money from landing fees but do not have access to the receipts for investing in modernization and improvements, as the money has been diverted to other purposes by the government. Experts say the remaining option is for the private sector to step in and make the necessary investments. The state would still retain some ownership and a share of profits.
