The president's position goes to CFO Ammann, 41, Mark Reuss assumes Barra's position as head of Global Product Development. Former Cummins CEO and chairman Mr. Solso will take up the chairman position at GM. Barra joined GM as a co-op student and was plant manager and head of human resources before heading product development. Akerson carefully prepared the transition saying it was like seeing a daughter graduate from college.
