The United States Information Service centers in Asia and other parts of the world were an important way America communicated with the people in the urban areas of these countries in the 1970's. Gradually these centers declined with many of them closed down and the USIS did not receive the funding and support it deserved. So that by the 1990's America had lost a crtical opportunity to build an understanding and rapport with new generations of young people in these countries. The need to rebuild and refund the USIS.
