This report in WSJ shows that AI or Artificial Intelligence cannot work without human intelligence behind it. As the Facebook Russian episode of inauthentic accounts shows it can lead to dire results. Human have to play a active and constantly overseeing role for it to work. In fact the bigger the AI effort the bigger the need for humans to actively conduct and monitor it and back it up with human intelligence. Truckloads of human intelligence are needed for a primitive AI system to be able to sort out data and process it. The process continues once a AI system is created or it will likely fail with disastrous results. Context is critical. Oxford University experts say hundreds of thousands of people are involved in human intelligence to make AI work.

For too long the press has looked at president Biden's age as drawback ignoring his vast experience, and not Trump's only 3 years younger with poor food and exercise habits and overweight, as pointed out by Duke University Prof. Frank Bruni in the NYT. Eileen Lindner, author of a yearbook on American and Canadian churches, says 100,000 Protestant churches in the US will close by 2030. In the 1940's 76 percent of Americans were affiliated with some church, by 2020 that had declined to 47%. The result is a growing number of churches lacking young people. A large number of young people are not affiliated with any church and church attendance dropped during the covid pandemic. A Yale Brown universities study in 2024 shows the huge dividends from investments in childcare in the early part of schooling years- $1 invested in free full time daycare for preschoolers generates $6 in economic benefits. It only includes the economic benefits from the lack of affordable childcare for parents that lead to cutting back on work hours and changing careers. This does not even include the results decades from today in 2050 when these children provide the Nation with a strong educated workforce to propel industry and the economy forward in new ways. China's July 2012 exports were up barely by 1%, over the same month prior year. Exports to the European Union declined by 16.2%. A big problem is cost increases for land, labor and electricity. By 2004 China's exports were growing at a peak rate of 35%. Since then prices of inputs have increased- wages by 150%, land by 70%, and electricity prices by 30%, according to Dragonomics. The yuan appreciated by 30%. Productivity is increasing by about 8% a year, according to the World Bank. As a result of the price increases of inputs the competitiveness of China, with products exported mainly on the basis of price, is deteriorating.
