South Korean presidential candidate Park Geun-hye is ommitted to bridging the development gap between S. Korea's southeastern provinces and southwestern provinces. Her father who ran the military government in the 1970's promoted growth in the southeastern provinces. Dissent was concentrated in the southwestern provinces. The gap is still being healed after a new democratic constitution and elections since 1987. Park Geun-hye has reached out to leaders in the southwestern provinces who opposed her father's government and hopes to gain about 20% of the vote in that part of S. Korea, compared to 9% for the current president.

Super is professor of law at Georgetown University. He says the $1.2 trillion in spending cuts president Obama and the Democrats have proposed will hurt the poor and middle class as much or more than any cuts proposed in th fiscal cliff. He says if the fiscal cliff cuts go into effect it is likely that mini deals would be reached to restore the Bush tax cuts for the middle class and reduce the amount of defence cuts because of the pressure of publc opinion, ending in a fairer deal than the grand bargain between Republicans and Democrats.

Daniel Inouye, Japanese-American from Hawaii is the second longest serving senator in the U.S. Senate in history. He served from 1962-1988, over 50 years. He was wounded in Italy serving with a nisei regiment and received the Medal of Honor, Purple Heart for his service in the war. He was born in 1924 to Japanese immigrants to Hawaii, in what he describes as "respectable poverty," his father serving as a civil clerk during the day and a waiter at night. He attended George Washington University Law School before being elected to Hawaii's territorial assembly in a 1954 Democratic election victory which swept out the Republicans and colonial era elites tied to sugar business interests.

The comeback of Shinzo Abe as the LDP wins elections for both houses of parliament in 2013. Shinzo Abe emphasizes the importance of handling failure for Japanese startup companies and new ventures, and says this was his own experience in handling ulcerative colitis during his first term as prime minister. New advances in medicine made it possible for him to recover and plan his return to party leadership. He says it is wrong for people to associate the LDP with the Old Economy, when Japan is all about the future and new companies breaking new ground.

David Cote of Honeywell is one of the CEO's most actively involved in the debt negotiations. Republicans take issue with his support for higher tax rates saying small business owners are affected by higher tax rates more than CEO's of large companies. Democrats including president Obama are pushing Cote to get Republicans to give in on higher tax rates in exchange for serious entitlement reform. Obama told Cote in one meeting with CEO's: "Tell Republicans you will give them cover for tax increases if they want tough entitlement reform." Dave Camp, Republican head of the Ways and Means Committee in Congress says raising tax rates is not the way to get Republican buy in.

We took a different way to help millions around the world build educated informed mindsets that affects and shapes their lives. For a future that is open, global and digital, with everyone having access to high quality information. We believe in the renewal of America, renewal of Europe, the renewal of India, the rest of Asia, Latin America and Africa. The renewal of our supply chains, health, education, infrastructure, as we rebuild our countries after the pandemic. Literacy and knowledge we believe cannot thrive and grow in a world of web bots, web crawlers, or AI. This requires human curiosity, human learning, and human imagination. We take as inspiration the saying- “One has to be free, and as broad as sky. One has to have a mind that is crystal clear, only then can truth shine in it.” Every contribution whether big or small is precious- in this crisis and ahead.
