Young voters 18 years to 29 years, some voting for the first time, including men on college campuses, voted by 14 percentage points in favor of DJT, compared to the same group of young voters giving  Biden a 15 percentage point margin. The total shift this time nearly 30 percentage points in favor of DJT. Young men fight the endless wars and young men are falling behind women in college education and Democrat Biden and Republican Trump were the only presidents fighting to end these wars, Democrats not even sensitive about the crisis facing young men.  For younger women 18-29 years the Harris margin was 18 percentage points down from 32 percentage points for Biden in 2020, a swing of 14 percentage points away from Democrats.  Overall for men and women Harris was only 52% to 46% for DJT a margin of only 6 percentage points.  This bodes well for America to have independent thinking from young people, and the same pattern is observed for Latinos, which also is a good sign for America for the future. ...

Britain has missed 400 billion pounds of growth as a result of Conservative governments spending cuts since 2010, says this TUC report cited in The Guardian. The Institute of Fiscal Studies and other reports also support this- that the income from work has fallen behind the income from owning assets in Britain- benefitting only the top 10% of households, hurting the rest and and creating a socially split and fragmented society. This has hurt Britain's economy. If the pre 1979 growth rate was maintained Britain's GDP would be 2 trillion pounds higher says this report citing the TUC. It has not improved the public finances as weaker growth means lower revenues, has weakened growth of the whole economic potential of the economy. At fault are institutions the IMF and the OECD and others that created a culture of misinformation that government spending gives only a modest spurt to growth so that austerity cuts can be prolonged with little impact on GDP. These institutions have later revised their analyses but the cultural impact of such perceptions has led to austerity cuts being accepted way of operating without thinking of the damage being done to the economy and to society. US president Biden has moved firmly to make the kind of targeted investments in infrastructure and to cut inflation that yield results and create a sense of optimism for the country. ...

Mr. Trump cited his work on prison reform legislation, on funding for black colleges and universities, rebuilding broken families, and bringing back jobs in Detroit, Cleveland and Milwaukee. 69% of registered voters are white in 2019 compared to 73% in 2012, according to the Pew Research Center. Getting it right now means he says not merely the defending American workers to prevent "offshoring of jobs, opening the borders, and sending sons and daughters to fight in endless foreign wars," but also how to defend the rights of minorities in America and of working class non-white people. In 2016 the Republican party got 8% of the black vote nationally, which was the lowest in 4 decades excluding the years Mr. Obama ran for election. The effort to highlight the work on behalf of Black people and Hispanic people was to take this number back up as far up as Republicans can to the level reached under Eisenhower. This he says will be good for Republicans and good for the country. Under Eisenhower in 1956 the Republican party gained 36% of the Black vote, the highest ever.  ...

WSJ describes interviews on 60 Minutes and on Fox News with Tom Homan, who will run Border Security.  Homan says targeted arrests for public safety threats and worksite enforcement operations, migrants who had due process and their federal judge said you must go home and they did'nt are the priorities, not mass sweep of neighborhoods.  WSJ cites the new president DJT as saying - "We have a lot of good people in this country, and we have to do something about it." “This has been going on for a long time. Anna Fifield of the Washington Post provides this exceptional piece on Yuka Ogata, a 42 year old municipal assembly member of the Kumamoto Municipal Assembly. Yuka sat in the assembly seat with her 7 month baby in the front row to the men looking on in amazement. Ogata has a Masters degree in conflict resolution from George Mason University. Ogata was earlier reported to have created a stir by sitting while pregnant while asking questions.  Yuka Ogata says she wants to draw attention to the struggles of women as they seek to work so that they can raise a child and work happily. Japan's government has announced the key goal of "womenomics" to increase participation of women in the economy as a way to increase growth. Earlier Yuka had asked the Assembly authorites to open a day care center or let mothers bring their children to work. Both requests were denied and Ogata's child was removed from the Municipal Assembly. Here Anna Fifield gives other examples. Because of pervasive corruption, low oil prices, and the effects of years of sanctions on the Iranian economy, experts now see the Iranian economy recovering only slowly in 2016-2017. The low oil prices below $30 a barrel in Jan. 2016 could cancel out the effects from unfreezing of about $50 billion in Iranian assets and removal of sanctions. Another severe problem is the way the Iranian economy is now structured with benefits going to businesses and groups close to the military and government, some of the benefits lost through corruption, taking it even longer for benefits to be seen for ordinary Iranians. This could even lead to Rouhani losing some of the credibility with the public that he had gained during the negotiations, says Warrick of the Washington Post.
