Banks are now lobbying against a provision put forward by Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas to prohibit banks from trading derivatives. She has offered changes which would give banks two years to spin off their derivatives operations, and this would still have to be separate from the commercial bank's operations with separate capital.

Infotel agreed to pay $2.74 billion for its nationwide bandwidth, Qualcomm won rights in 4 regions for $1 billion, Bharti agreed to pay $720 million for 4 areas, and Aircel $747 million for eight areas. ...
