Experts at Stanford Law School say the fewer IPO's expected in coming years will be a good thing as it reduces the boom and bust cycles in tech and internet IPO's of previous years. New technologies enable firms to reach breakeven at a much earlier stage with smaller investment- using founders money and capital from angel investors and less reliance on venture capital- so that companies can focus on the long term. The result will be fewer jobs created in investment banking and more in other places.

Milbank says the situation is reminiscent of Bush's statements about Iraq in 2003 before the invasion- that though Bush insisted that "war is my last choice," war was coming and was being planned. Russia's parliament voted to ratify Russia's entry into the World Trade Organization by a vote of 238 to 208. Opposition was led by the Communist party. The head of the Economic Expert Group in Moscow, Evsey Gurvich, says the new rules are important for Russia as Russia has no rules of the game today, the new rules will enhance competition. President Putin described the change in this way: "We joined the WTO because our economy is highly dependent on the external market in terms of both production and consumption. Excessive protectionism invariably leads to stagnation, low quality and high prices." The result from loss of revenue with lower tariffs is a loss of revenue of $5.7 billion in 2013, and $7.8 billion in 2014, according to Economic Development minister Belousov. The financial crisis of 2008-2009 convinced Putin that Russia had to participate in the decisions about the world economy because of the direct impact this has on Russia.

Samuelson discusses the differences between the Bureau of Labor Statistics figures for June 2014 using the Payroll Survey and the Household Survey, each telling a different story. According to the Payroll Survey 288,000 jobs were added. The Payroll Survey is a monthly survey of 554,000 business locations, with firms asked to give the number of people on payrolls, pay and occupations. The Household Survey of the BLS asks households in monthly interviews with 60,000 Americans whether they have a job, is it part time or full time, are they looking for full time work, or jobless and for how long. The Household Survey showed June 2014 job increase at 407,000, using an estimate of 1,115,000 increase in part-time jobs and a loss of 708,000 full time jobs. Of the two the payroll survey is larger and considered by economists to be more representative. Other statistics show the parttime workers at about 3 million higher than 2007 before the 2008 financial crisis, suggesting the shift to part time jobs has been one negative result of the crisis....

Zappos gets rid of job postings, saying they are a conversation killer, preventing a two way conversation with young people who are interested and fascinated with the company's unique way of doing business. Instead people who send out hundreds of resumes get to crowd out those who want to really engage in a relationship with the company. The answer is Zappos Insider which offers special membership for people who want to learn more about Zappos and its unique culture. Zappos ambassadors will act as people who carry the conversation forward with those who are interested.

About 80% of Mexicans associate Pemex with corruption. Pemex union bosses oversee a system where workers get "paying jobs"- workers actually pay for these jobs and union officials benefit from this. The Pena Nieto administration faces the tough task of convincing a skeptical public that the constitutional changes to bring in foreign investment into the Mexican oil industry will benefit the workers. Many expect to lose jobs as the industry modernizes and new management is brought in to implement the changes.
