The move is an effort to develop speed at IBM as it shifts to faster growing new businesses such as data analytics and cloud computing. As the ways companies that buy IBM products change their manner of operating with decisions on using IBM products made in many departments and away from IT departments, IBM sees the need to change. Speed also offers a way to tackle the shift to new product technologies, which involves a transition period and falling total revenues.
