British prime minister Cameron says the government will support the call of the Labor party for News Corporation to withdraw its bid for full ownership of BSkyB, the British Sky Broadcasting group. An inquiry will be led by Lord Justice Leveson, into the phone hacking and other activities of News Corporation. The inquiry will have 2 parts, with recommendations to be made in 12 months. The first part will look at the culture of the media, its practices, ethics and its relationship with the police and politicians. The second part of the inquiry will investigate the illegal activities of News Corporation, including alleged payments to police.

Mike Flynn, who briefly held the position of National Security Adviser before resigning, tells the FBI and Congressional officials that he is willing to be interviewed if he is given immunity for prosecution. Flynn, a former general, resigned after accepting that he misled White House officials about the phone conversations with the Russian ambassador. NTT Japan's largest telecommunications company plans to pay a 41% premium on shares of the part of Docomo that it does not own. NTT owns 66% of shares of Docomo. The $40 billion deal is designed to speed up decision making and compete in world markets. New prime minister Yoshihide Suga is pushing for lowering of high mobile phone service prices. Japanese government owns one third of NTT.
