DJT wants to see good relations with Russia and Russia to join the G-7 to make it G-8 nations as it was before Obama-Merkel. He sees Zelensky as an obstacle to peace early in the second term, that has changed now that Russia and Putin continue the war. By July 8 after calls to Putin and Zelensky, he now sees Russia as an obstacle to a negotiated settlement and the need for defensive shipments to Ukraine.

As this happens in the US Congress Lindsey Graham, senior Senator from South Carolina leads an effort supported by 80 senators to place sanctions on countries that support Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The US, Belgium and Italy oppose use of Russian assets in Belgium of $200 billion as collateral for loans to Ukraine. Ukraine is facing budget shortfall of $135 billion for the next 2 years 2026-2027. TheUk supports it use, and Germany and France are leaning in this direction with the EU's Leyen. US intention is to do this so that a peace settlement can be reached to end the war in Ukraine. Lack of trust between Western Europe and Russia threatens a breakdown in the efforts of the US for peaceful end to the war, leading instead of a settlement to increase in defense and armed forces of Germany and France at this point in December 2025.

These are the stories of many of these immigrants, who were now to be found in the Northern Plains and the Deep South, in addition to places like CalifornIA. Illegal immigrants had to deal with immigration agents, where asimple stop at atraffic light could lead to deportation proceedings. Let sleeping tariffs lie is the approach of S. Korea, Taiwan, Japan, China, India, European Union, Germany, UK-  expect all trade agreements with the US to remain in place after Supreme Court decision as no country wants to go through the intensely difficult process of renegotiating on tariffs. It is also the case that DJT can replace these same tariffs using other tools and different legislation passed by Congress to stop unfair trading practices by other nations. The president is also appealing to the public, some of the tariffs are about fentanyl flows into the US, the unfair trade practices and subsidies were a problem for the Biden administration and rebuilding manufacturing was the goal of both DJT and Biden, and will be for future administrations.  When the media NYT, Washington Post respond they are following the editorial line taken that opposes the DJT administration on all issues, when WSJ respond it takes the textbook approach of economists and finance people that free markets are best without considering the real life issues. This is why the president said at his press conference after the Supreme Court decision that 22 Nobel Prize economists had said the economy could not be turned around for growth and low inflation in 1 year, and were proved wrong after the experience of 2025 with low inflation at 2.8%, low unemployment 4.3%, and growth of 2.2% in real GDP (with strong growth in quarters 2&3 of 3.8% and 4.4%). Expect all tariffs to be in place under other legislation to be in place in coming months. ...

Melenchon party sees itself as a place for voters who vote against the National Front which it calls Fascist and does not push for a positive message on it's policies for a future government. This happens as Macron now looks like a lame duck president with little support in France. This adds to uncertainty in French politics.

Economists are the cause of the problem with text book theories that have no connection with realities on the ground, misleading th American people about what is good for them. Today's realities are multifaceted with many dimensions, economists knowledge is so specialized and only a small part of this reality changing on the ground and changing rapidly. Simply stated the US could be displaced as world power, if it does not act. The loss of its middle class is only the beginning, things could end up badly listening to economists and their textbook theories.

Auto sales in the U.S. reached 1.33 million vehicles in May, a 25% increase over the previous year, with the previous years figures skewed by the tsunami in Japan and shortages for Japanese manufacturers. The Fed's quarterly Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey, says U.S. banks have relaxed lending standards and more businesses looked for loans in the first quarter. Yet the demand for loans is sluggish. While auto loans increased, credit cards and other instalment loans were flat, and mortgage demand is decreasing. The sluggish demand for loans is holding back the growth in the profits of banks. This is also why the KBW Bank Index fell by 7.9% this year and bank stocks are not doing well. Lower revenue reduces the Net Interest Margin, a key measure for bank profitability- the difference between what is earned on assets and the cost of deposits and other laibilities. NIM went up to 3.77% in 2010 with the Fed's low interest policy. Since the first quarter of 2010 NIM is falling. NIM at 2.67% is flat at Bank of America, fell for Citigroup and Well Fargo, and only rose slightly at J.P. Morgan Chase.
