A labor economist in Beijing says as the economy improves and working conditions get better workers are working fewer hours every year. He says China lags behind in productivity. The longer working hours he says are not good for worker's health and for productivity. This was said in 2015 when China was still chasing GDP growth without the level of technology the US and Europe had. It is through constant and repeated practice that this meditation yoga can through concentration and yearning help one to reach a level of calmness that is a form of samadhi. Samadhi produces a level of calm and serenity mostly unknown to man.

Labor in the U.S. stood firm in its opposition to bills in Congress granting fast track trade authority and promoting the TPP trade agreement. The bill failed to clear the House of Representatives as labor unions lobbied hard against the legislation. For the first time public sector unions of teachers, firefighters, and other service workers actively worked with industrial labor unions. This is a result of a realization in labor unions that the decline of communities with the closing of plants reduces the demand for public sector workers, and reduces the revenues of cities leading to cuts in services for firefighters, teachers. The low wages in manufacturing with globalization, also reduces the support of factory workers for higher wages for teachers, firefighters and other public sector workers. Also adding to support for workers is the realization that the investment in infrastructure is now a higher priority, as experts say most of the gains in trade are already behind us. A general feeling that the decline in U.S. manufacturing is not good for the country, the difficulty of competing with countries which do not enforce rules for fair practice and treatment of workers, and a general sense that the lowering of wages in manufacturing is both hurting the middle class and increasing inequality, also have created support in the media....

One of the key findings of a joint panel of the WHO and South Korea on the MERS outbreak is the lack of transparency in the South Korean government's handling of MERS. Lee Jong-Koo, leader of the South Korean side in the panel said at a news conference: "One of the things South Korea failed to do was a transparent and rapid distribution of information, which is the most important thing to do." What caused serious concern for health officials is the speed of the outbreak- between May 20 when the first patient was identified and June 10 at least 145 people were infected. The chief WHO official on the panel, Keiji Fukuda, says South Korea needs to enforce a robust quarantine and monitoring system, and invest more in public health with more epidemiologists and laboratories' capacity.

Quick decisions by Costolo in the early days before the IPO helped the company, but are now seen as a weakness for Twitter. Twitter share price was down 20% after reporting weak revenue growth for the last quarter.
