Hua says China has a large number of poor people in the provinces and rural areas. Many of these regions depend on the tax revenues from plants making pirated products. People in these areas depend on income from pirated and knockout copies of products for their livelihood. This is a social reason for the widespread prevalence of pirated products in China, says Hua
