A Gallup poll is conducted for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan to find out how Americans view Japan. The poll is conducted since the 1960's. The most recent poll in 2012 showed 50% of Americans view Japan as America's most important partner in Asia, compared to 39% for China.
