With longer life spans and improving medical care people tend to live longer. This means the traditional ideas about the age when people should retire are becoming obsolete. Medical studies of increasing risk of dementia type illness the greater the number of years one spends in retirement, provide additional incentives to remain active mentally by engaging in work and tasks of complexity. Financial reasons and pension plans funding, also make it better to to work longer close to age 65, and past 65 years.
