Jacob Fugger of Augsburg, Germany- the transition from feudalism to early capitalism in Europe around 1500

Jacob Fugger made his money in the textile trade with Northern Italy, and from his mining business for copper and silver in Salzburg and Hungary. He financed an early Portuguese shipping expedition to India. This was a brief period when the centre of trade and finance shifted from Northern Italy through Augsburg to the Netherlands and Britain.
