Matt Apuzzo of the NYT shows how separate investigations of the FBI and the IRS led to the same people involved. The use of American banks for money transfers helps in prosecution of the case in American courts. About $10 million in bribes were paid to bring the World Cup Soccer games to South Africa. Reporters of the The Sunday Times were working on an undercover assignment looking into corruption in FIFA at the time of the investigations by the IRS and the FBI.
