The Porsche and Piech families control 5 seats on the 20 seat supervisory board of VW. Labor and the state of Saxony also have representation on the board. Under CEO Winterkorn, who was brought in by Ferdinand Piech when he headed Audi, VW sales have nearly doubled and profit margins improved. In 2015 the Porsche family, labor and the state of Saxony support Winterkorn continuing through 2016. Piech is looking at making changes.
