German economic relations are on a different basis with Russia than U.S. economic relations with Russia, requiring a different approach. About 40% of German public opinion has an unfavorable view of the U.S. according to a recent Pew Research Global Survey. The result is a nuanced and a flexible dialogue based approach to Russia.
