A million Indian soldiers served in the First World War on the Allied side. This is the story of the 39th Garhwal Rifles in Givenchy, France, in the Christmas of 1914. Spice tins were given to Indian soldiers from Princess Mary, only daughter of King George V. They were also exchanged on Christmas day 1914 by Allied soldiers with German soldiers at the Front lines.
