The Google ex CEO says its your turn to shape AI but does not say that AI is shaped by a few individuals at corporations such as Microsoft and Google. Pew Research shows majority of students on campuses across the US have serious concerns and are not excited by the way AI has developed. This when Pew has not asked people to comment on how trillions of dollars needed for rebuilding of the dilapidated infrastructure and transportation of the US and for reindustrialization to create jobs after manufacturing was shipped to China by Elites, have through the capital markets been shifted into AI. Even when financial returns cannot come anywhere close to what these investments would do for the American people (and investors) if invested in reindustrialization+ infrastructure. The public knows better, no wonder Google founder Schmidt is booed.

Gen. Christopher Neve of 82nd Airborne and Eighth Army to be new US Army chief of staff in May 2026. He is known for restoring traditional army discipline to the 82nd Airborne Division. This has brought him to the attention of Defense Secretary Hegseth and the US president. This is similar to Eisenhower who after West Point gained from his relationship with Gen. Pershing in 1920's and later by 1940 with General Marshall who appointed him to Commander in the North African and European campaigns in WWII. One difference is that Neve came up through the Army's Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Arizona University. Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg says this about Neve- "What he did which I admired, he brought the 82nd—it had drifted away a bit—back to traditional training and traditional values.”  Kellogg a former 82nd Airborne Division commander himself. He was brought to Hegseth's attention for a future appointment by Kellogg. He was then appointed to assistant to the Defense Secretary. Eisenhower was assistant to Pershing who mentored him in the interwar years in the 20's for the Battlefield Monuments Commission and for Pershing's Memoirs on WWI. The 82nd Airborne is a paratrooper unit that saw action in closing days of WW1 and in WWII in Normandy Sicily, throughout the war. Based in Fort Liberty, North Carolina. When reports under president Biden showed TSMC investing in Arizona it was still a slow process with much foot dragging including articles by TSMC executives about how difficult it was to make in US. Now that the Trump administration has its tariffs in place this WSJ report says the factory in Arizona is advancing production by several quarters, and it has started production late in 2024 with quality comparable to TSMC plants in Taiwan. How quickly DJT's approach with tariffs to level playing field and letting Taiwan know it owes defense and its education in semiconductors to the US is working, is shown by this example like others. And the $65 billion investment is now up to $165 billion in the US that TSMC is planning. The extra $100 billion is a commitment made to DJT. TSMC revenue growth is higher now at 30% than 20% it had previously with AI and robotic demand in 2025 so that it needs to make more chips quickly. ...

The U.S. Supreme Court addresses questions raised by Arizona's immigration laws. Justices expressed skepticism where the Arizona law imposes penalties and enforcement beyond what is required by Congress. At the same Justices said it was acceptable for states to do what the federal law already envisions, such as immigration officials sharing information with state police, as long as penalties and enforcement did not go beyond what Congress requires. While Justices were receptive to aspects of the law that required state police to check immigration status, they were skeptical about aspects of the law that challenge the right of illegal immigrants to seek work.

The Supreme Court upheld the provision under an Arizona state law that requires police to check the immigration status of people stopped for traffic and other offenses. By a vote of 6-2 the Supreme Court voided the provision that made it a state crime to fail to carry federal registration papers. By a vote of 5-3 it voided the provision that provided for jail time for immigrants not carrying federal registration papers. Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion that includes Justices Roberts, Ginsburg, Breyer and Sotomayor, and said: "The government of the United States has broad, undoubted power over the subject of immigration and the status of aliens... Immigration policy can affect trade, investment, tourism and diplmatic relations for the entire nation." At the same time Justice Kennedy said " the problems posed to the State by illegal immigration must not be underestimated," saying that "unauthorized aliens, were responsible for a disproportionate share of serious crime." Unauthorized aliens are only 8.9% of the population of Maricopa County which includes Pheonix, but caused 21.8% of the felonies. The part of the Arizona law SB 1070 that stated the illegal immigrant seeking work was commiting a crime, was struck down on the grounds that this "would interfere with the careful balance struck by Congress" for the labor market in which only employers are committing a crime. Justice Kennedy reminded the country that it was still a nation of immigrants....

A new Arizona law tells school districts they would lose 10% of their state education funds if their ethnic studies programs do not comply with state standards. Programs that are not allowed are programs that advocate ethnic solidarity, are primarily for one race, or promote resentment toward a race. Classes in the Tucson Unified School District's Mexican-American program have been declared illegal. Arizona's attorney general Tom Horne, declared the classes illegal, in violation of a state law going into effect Jan 1, 2011. Other programs for black, Asian and American Indian students have not been affected. All this is happening in the midst of fierce protests about the state's immigration laws. Mr. Horne, was superintendent of public instruction for Arizona before becoming attorney general. At that time he wrote a law challenging Tucson's ethnic studies program, which the legislature passed and Governor Jan Brewer signed into law in May 2010. It takes aim at texts used in the classes, such as "Occupied America," and "The Pedagogy of the Oppressed."...
