Airbus announced a 6.1% increase in the price of its A320neo medium distance jets. Overall prices for Airbus aircraft were up 3.9% on average, according to the company's chief operating officer. The higher price increase on the A320neo reflects strong demand for the aircraft.

Facebook says in its IPO filing that it has 845 millon users worldwide. This is up 39% from the prior year. Revenue is up 88% from the prior year. Facebook's 2011 revenue is $4.27 billion, according to eMarketer. Facebook's 2011 profit was up 65% from the prior year. Analysts say costs and expenses are growing faster than revenues. R&D costs including employee hiring and equity compensation went up to $114 million in 2011 from $9 million in 2010. Facebook had 3,200 employees in Dec. 2011, compared to 2,172 in the prior year. Revenues come from online ads. Ads on the Facebook site increased by 42% in 2011 over the prior year, and average price per ad increased by 18% in this period. Ads are generated using the information provided by users on demographic factors, age, location, gender, education, work history and specific interests- so that subsets of users can be targeted by advertiserrs of products.

Airbus A380 superjumbo jetliner and the A400M military plane are facing cost overrruns and have fallen years behind schedule. Airbus has booked provisions for the A380 superjumbo of 240 million euros, and a provision booked for the A400M of 1.8 billion euros for cost overruns for 2009.

Intel and the Federal Trade Commission plan to settle an anti-trust case. This will require Intel to change monopolistic practices in the microprocessor market. One of the ways Intel has tried to fend off competitors like AMD is by offering rebates to HP, Dell, and Acer. In a private settlement Intel paid $1.25 billion to AMD in November 2009. It paid a $1.45 billion fine to the EU after a ruling against Intel for such practices.

Campbell Soup Co. acquires Bolthouse Farms of Bakersfield, California, a maker of high-end juices, for $1.55 billion. By doing this Campbell is shifting into beverages and into fresh foods from its traditional business in canned condensed soups which have a long shelf life. The packaged fresh food category is growing at 7% a year much faster than the canned soup business. This also complements Campbell's V8 vegetable juice products.The soup business is declining because of a change in consumer preferences for simplicity in meals, lack of new products and ineffective discounting. Campbell is planning to introduce 30 new soup items, and packaging in pouches with newer flavors, to get younger people to try its products.

Gottfried points out that after the IPO, in which it made a 73% gain to $45.10 in the first day above listing price of $26, the market value is $31.7 billion in early Nov 2013. This puts more pressure on Twitter to increase revenues to justify such a high market valuation. Estimates from Pivotal Research show Twitter not reaching $1 billion in operating income till 2018-2019. By basic market capitalization Twitter opened at about 26 times 2014 sales estimates, and 33 times using diluted market value.
