Lack of coordination between EU nations and with Turkey on terrrorism risks is a serious problem. Information on one of the suicide bombers in the Brussels airport and subway attacks in March 2016 is not shared by Turkey with the EU countries because of lack of adequate coordination and no proper mechanism for this. S.E.C. Inspector General David Kotz says his office will put out a report on the destruction of probe related records at the S.E.C.. Darrell Flynn, an S.E.C. attorney alleged that the S.E.C. destroyed about 9000 files in clear violation of laws that probe records cannot be destroyed. He sought and obtained whistleblower protection. Senator Charles Grassley disclosed the accusations and asked the S.E.C. to explain the effect of this on investigations.

Bank of America Corp settled a shareholder lawsuit that it misled investors about the acquisition of Merrill Lynch by agreeing to a payment of $2.43 billion. The five plaintiffs included the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio and the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. The plaintiffs accused Bank of America under Ken Lewis of making false and misleading statements about losses relating to the acquisition and planned to seek $20 billion if the case went to trial on Oct. 22. The series of never ending lawsuits and settlements are hobbling the bank's effort to recover. Company figures show Bank of America setting aside $42 billion for litigation costs, payments and reserves.
