"Win with Flynn" shows JFK's The Soft American first published in 1962 in The Sports Illustrated magazine. It is about building a nation that takes pride in vigorous exercise that improves the quality of life in so many ways. It was a call to the Marines by Teddy Roosevelt in 1902, it was a call to the nation for the Presidential Fitness badge of JFK. Today the call is once again sounded by JFK Jr. His father Robert F. Kennedy made the 50 mile walk through snow and slush on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Trail on the way from Great Falls VA toward Camp David, Maryland. Knowing today's flabby generation and JFK not afraid of calling that out, it is once again time to revive this kind of challenge and the Presidential Fitness Badge for all Americans - the right way to Make America Great Again but more so to improve our overall health and wellbeing as Americans and as a Nation.

Keir Starmer of Britain gets the support and good wishes of Modi, Trudeau and Albanese in the Commonwealth, and of Scholz in Germany and the European Union, after his landslide win. Scholz said in Berlin of Starmer: "I know Keir Starmer personally. We have often met and spoken with each other. He will be a very successful prime minister, of that I am convinced." Spain's Sanchez talked about working together based on "the values we share." And Trudeau of Canada said "lets get to it my friend."

Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union party suffered a major defeat in North Rhine-Westphalia. Exit polls show the SPD Social Democrats party winning 38.9% of the vote, increasing its vote by 4.4%. The CDU won only 26.3% of the vote, dropping 8.3% from the last election. The SPD state premier, Hannelore Kraft, proved to be a popular campaigner. Her opponent Mr Rottgen made debt-financed spending an issue and told voters this was a referendum on Merkel's policies for Europe. Ms. Kraft said after the win: "We made people the central focus again." This has overtones of the victory of Francois Hollande in France, a few days ago, and shows a fundamental shift in Europe. German media described it as debacle for the conservatives considering the size of the margin between SPD and CDU. The Greens secured 11.6% of the votes and this will enable Ms. Kraft to govern easily compared to an earlier minority government she led. This state is the largest in Germany, with one of every five Germans living here, with the capital in Dusseldorf. The Pirates party secured 7.8% of the vote, and the Free Democrats staging a recovery with 8.3% of the vote under a popular young leader Christian Lindner. Upto this point the SPD lacked an effective leader to challenge Merkel. The sense now is that Ms. Kraft will emerge as the SPD's challenger to Merkel in elections in 2013, or earlier. French president Hollande goes to Berlin on May 16, 2012, and the SPD win is expected to strengthen his position in negotiations....

Geert Wilders Freedom Party wins 37 seats in the 150 seat Dutch parliament. Dilan Isigloz leading Rutte's party gets 24 seats who also seeks control of immigration.  Netherlands is already seeing a surge in sentiment against high levels of immigration. About a quarter of all immigrants, 403,000 in 2022 up 150,000 from 2021, 103,000 are from Ukraine and 257,000 or 64% are from EU countries (Statistics Netherlands). Mark Rutte's coalition government collapsed when he sought curbs on immigration. A left alliance got 24 seats and Timmermans's EU party got 24 seats.

The former president having 81% of the vote for non college educated in the primaries and  small percentage of votes among college educated means that if elected it would be that a whole population of college educated people are being effectively disenfranchised in choosing the government. It means that democracy that took over 200 years to include people with less education and income in selecting a government has moved in 2024 to doing the opposite excluding the educated with all its implications for good government of such a lopsided state of affairs. A recent poll shows 81% of Haley's 250,000 votes in the Republican primary would not vote for the former president. Haley won moderates by 61% to 31%. Trump won those without a college degree by 82% to 13% for Haley. Trump support huge in rural areas, Haley's in the suburbs.This shows how different this Republican party is from that even as recent as 2015. In fact Gallup has found that in 1999 the Democratic party was a plus 14 percentage points for non college educated and in 2024 the Republican party is a plus 14 percentage points for non college educated. Among postgraduate educated the gap was 8 percentage points in 1999 and now has widened to where Democrats have 60% to Republicans 21%. ...

Britain turns to Labour as the lead for Labour party increases to 27 points after Sunak announces the general election will be held on July 4, 2024. What would a Starmer administration look like and how will it meet the expectations of Britain for generational change after the failure of Brexit, and 14 years of austerity policies that failed to invest in Britain and failed to deliver on infrastructure and housing? These are questions not easily answered as Britain's finances are left in a bad state by the Tories for Labour. Starmer is taking the right approach to first get a grasp of the tremendous challenges facing Labour in this situation. It was easy for Boris Johnson and the Tories to make the promises that were never kept and left the British people in the lurch.

Lopez Obrador's Morena party lost its absolute majority in the lower house in Mexican elections, but will still retain about 290 seats out of 500 when parties allied with Morena and with the same direction are seen as working together on the president's agenda. Obrador called the elections "free and fair."

Connor Hellebuyck US ice hockey goalie who turned in 41 saves for the 2-1 win by US over Canada at Olympics in Milan 2026. He had a 96% saved percentage in the Olympics and a 92% saved percentage for the Winnipeg Jets for last 3 seasons. And yet he struggled in some periods when he was not at his best. No one knew he would turn in his best performance ever at this game.

Talarico beat Crockett in Texas Democrat primary and Senator Cornyn at 42% edges out Attorney General Paxton in Texas Republican primary.  DJT likely to endorse Cornyn and calls for Republicans to avoid ads and infighting. $131 million spent on this Texas primary, $99 million for Republicans. Democrats are unlikely to win in Texas, but the infighting is of concern to the president because of the margin  for control in the US Senate.
