In this op-ed in the NYT Matthew D'Ancona, former deputy editor of the Daily Telegraph, is sharply critical of British prime minister Theresa May for planning to remain in office after the election losses of the Conservative party in the June 2017 election. He calls her decision deplorable and the alliance with the Democratic Unionist party of Northern Ireland with its 10 seats and less than 1% of the total vote a huge mistake, because of its extremely conservative views on social issues which are out of touch with socially liberal conservative voters. Ford executes new strategy for reaching the younger first time buyers of small cars in India. The car is a hatchback called the Figo designed with the help of Indian engineers for the Indian and overseas markets. It has done a$500 million expansion of its plant in Chennai, India, doubling production to 200,000 vehicles ayear, and 250,000 diesel engines a year by 2010. Mullaly says: "literally India is designing the small car for the world." Separately Ford is building a new car plant in Chongquing, China, for 300,000 cars, midsize and suv's. The change is huge and dramatic for car production. CSM Worldwide predicts car sales in India 45% higher in 2011 compared to 2007, and 39% growth in China, 26% in Brazil. In contrast, car sales in North Americaand Europe will not have returned to 2007 levels by 2011. Considering declining levels in Japan and Germany sales may be on a slow downturn. See links to this. Assuming it grows at 10 percent a year ,the power of compound interest is huge- it will grow to $47,000 in 10 years, 147,000 in 20 years, and 349,000 in 30 years. This is 3 times the average IRA of 127,000 in 2025. Fidelity Investments shows average IRA in 2025 as as $127,000, for 30 year olds 104,000. Plans are being made for renovation in 2013 even as there is an abundance of office space in New Jersey. This is part of the 473 acre site for Bell Labs in New Jersey. Planned restrictions on the export of Nvidia A800 chips to China is a signal from the Biden administration to chip companies to stop circumventing the export restrictions, says this report in WSJ. These restrictions may include cloud services too. A800 chips have the same computing power as the A100 which are already restricted for export, but have a lower bandwith for communicating with other chips.

How do you rebuild the country Ukraine after so much bombing and continuing missiles in droves hitting the country? Most of the $300 billion in Russian assets are frozen in Europe and Europe does not want to violate international law to take over the assets. Instead it chose to give Ukraine $3 billon loan based on the interest coming from the $300 billion frozen assets. This is not going to do much as over $100 billion will be needed. The US Biden administration has a different plan. It is to use the interest to finance a loan of $50 billion from the EU and the US.

DJT administration 25% tariffs on Canada Mexico for not stopping fentanyl flows as domestic policy go ahead on March 4, 2025. This lays the ground to tackle aproblem that has led to 490,000 American deaths and devastated communities across the US - the flow of fentanyl into the US from Mexico, Canad and China. The US has 124,000 charging stations for electric vehicles. The Biden administration wants to see that go up to 500,000 by 2030. For this to happen $7.5 billion is already going to states under the $1 trillion infrastructure bill of 2021. The Biden $369 Climate bill that passed the Senate last week will give companies that build each charging station 30% tax credit for maximum of $100,000, up from $30,000 earlier, to build one charging station. It costs about $100,000 to tear up pavement and build a conduit for a charging station.

Supply chain issues will linger for 2022 and 2023 with shortage of chips after which it will move much faster says this report in WSJ. For EV's to go mainstream charging stations are a priority.

U.S. Supreme Court nominee BrettKavanaugh, a Court of Appeals judge in the District of Columbia, could affect the Mueller investigation and issues of pardon, because of his expansive views of the presidency. He was part of the Kenneth Starr investigation of president Clinton. During that investigation he pursued it vigorously but later his opinion was that the president should be not distracted from his important duties, and should have some freedom from being prosecuted. For this reason it is not clear how he would act in the Mueller investigation. President Trump could have considered this when he selected Kavanaugh, says this report.
