Awesome pictures of the lunar eclipse in the night sky on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. It combined a supermoon, lunar eclipse, and a blood moon. Blood moon refers to the reddish hue as light filters through the earth's atmosphere. In native American cultures this is referred to as the flower moon. Lunar eclipses happen when the Earth passes between sun and moon, blocking the sunlight that normally illumines the moon's grayish white cratered surface. The next one is on May 16, 2022.

Japan is staying ahead in vaccine development with 5 vaccines under development including 1 MrNA vaccine. Vaccine makers using Japanese research are Shionogi, Anges, Daiichi Sankyo, KM Biologics, ID Pharm. Shoionogi also announced in May that it is working on vaccine for variants of coronavirus. Japanese vaccines were recently sent to Taiwan.

Boris Johnson calls for expanded funding and increased capacity for procedures at the National Health Service. Britain's NHS will carry out a million more procedures in 2022 with the extra funding. A rise in national insurance contributions by one percent will fund the additional 10% increase in capacity at NHS to deal with Covid backlogs. This is in addition to 5.4 billion pounds injected into NHS earlier over the winter.
