After 22 months the Brazilian government of President Lula has come up with 4 bills in Congress that willl lay out the basis of ownership of the new oil discovered offshore, called pre-sal because its deep below salt deposits in the Atlantic ocean. The oil in the new fields is made the property of the state, and not that of companies that buy concesssions. In each block half of any oil produced will go to the state. The other half will go to a production sharing agreement between Petrobras and companies that partner with it in proportion to their costs. One bill creates a company Petrosal to finance social spending, infrastructure and other projects. And this is modeled on the Norwegian Oil Fund that has saved oil revenues for the people. Petrobras will also get an injection of the monetary equivalent of 5 billion barrels of oil to strengthen it as the dominant oil company.

With Bud Lights sales declining for the last 3 years, Anheuser Busch is responding with new "craft" beers and new malt beverages which have the taste of iced tea and tequila. Anheuser has 46.9% of the U.S. market, down from 48.9% in 2008, according to Beer Marketer's Insights. Shipments declined by 3.2% in 2011. The emergence of many small independent "craft" beers as consumers look for variety and new alternatives, has cut into sales for Anheuser and MillerCoors. MillerCoors, a joint venture between London based SABMiller and Denver based Molson Coors Brewing, is increasing its advertising budget by 50% to boost Miller Light. In the U.S. "craft" breweries increased production by 13% in 2011, reaching 10 million barrels according to the Brewers Association. This is 5% of the total market in the U.S. of 200 million barrels. Anheuser's new product introductions include Bud Light Platinum, with higher alcohol content, and new packaging, which has taken a 1% share in the market. Anheuser has a research brewery which is trying out new beers- one is a wheat India Pale Ale with its strong taste, introduced under its Shock Top Label. In the malt beverage category Anheuser has Bud Light Lime-a- Rita, with 8% alcohol coming to stores in April, that has the flavor of margarita. Anheuser is also heavily promoting its Belgian beer Stella Artois, which increased sales by 24% in 2011, to reach 1 million barrels. Another strategy is buying craft breweries, such as Chicago based Goose Island, which Anheuser acquired for $39 million in 2011....

This is part of France 24's "A world confined" series. It shows testing in Germany with Centogene doing 50,000 tests and 7000 tests in Rostock. About 50 such companies are leading the testing effort in Germany making testing convenient and readily available. It also shows problems with testing in Russia, and the problems in developing countries such as Gabon where running water is lacking to wash hands, and in war torn Afghanistan where a large part of the population could be affected by coronavirus.

The rotting carcasses of the minks that were culled will be dug up to be incinerated. Environmental inspectors found that some water sources might have been contaminated by bacteria. The 17 million minks in Denmark were the target of culling after fears of coronavirus in minks. The whole issue has shown the problems in some of the Nordic countries that were seen as models for healthcare and public services. Sweden's treatment of the elderly in nursing homes was seen all over Europe as shabby and the king of Sweden called it a "failure.

A global price cap on oil action by prohibiting insurance companies from insuring shipping companies that transport oil at a price set below discounted Russian oil. The idea was first discussed by president Mario Draghi of Italy with president Biden. Biden thinks this is a good, so does Mr. Macron of France. The questions remain on how this would be implemented in practice.
