In the 1940's 76 percent of Americans were affiliated with some church, by 2020 that had declined to 47%. The result is a growing number of churches lacking young people. India's moon space program may be the only space program in the world where the mission directors are women aerospace scientists. The Head of ISRO the organization running the space program, Mr. Sivan, is a aerospace scientist with 36 years experience in all types of rocket design and technology, who headed the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center and the Liquid Propulsion Systems Center. Mr. Sivan took over in 2018 and directed the program to the launch in July in the face of delays and technical problems with the Vikram Lander. He comes from Tamilnadu from a rural region near Kanya Kumari who graduated from IIT Madras with a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering.

The Manhattan business district of New York City has office occupancy rate of only 50%, leaving half the office space unused and vacant. Only 9% of Manhattan office employees are in the office 5 days a week, 37% 3 days a week, says this report in WSJ. The business district is far from recovery. New York Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul have convened a group of civic leaders to draft a158 page report called- New New York Panel. The New York Panel suggests turning some of the business space into parks and promenades for pedestrians to make the city attractive and the space livable with green areas. A new director of public realm would report to the mayor. New York City has suffered much from the pandemic. The old midtown and the old city is no longer the kind of attractive livable green space that people want to live in or get to.

Tense moments after India's Chandrayan 2 covers 364,000 miles in space, coming close to the lunar surface at the South Pole, as close as 2.1 kilometres before losing communication with the ISRO Space Center. A similar wave of building industrial space is taking place in Europe for warehouses. Communities from Pittsburgh to Madison, Wisconsin and neighborhoods in expanding logistics regions in Southern California and eastern Pennsylvania. Many say their communities are under siege. To get goods to people faster companies are still planning but have not made the shift to bringing construction back home or closer to home so that this kind of huge warehousing space is no longer needed. Much of this warehousing space may no longer be needed as more sustainable, more reliable,  shorter supply chains take the place of current ones that have concentrated all manufacturing in one country, China, at the hidden costs to local communities and companies. Through many hidden costs that have not been fully quantified in terms of quality of living in communities, loss of jobs and infrastructure through loss of tax revenues, carbon footprint of products shipped over thousands of miles, hidden logistics costs, rampant inflation in logistics costs, and significant loss of manufacturing knowhow that cannot be easily replaced. This is a result of decades of building such supply chains that no longer fit the needs of today. ...
