Biden says about passing the bills for his $3.5 trillion agenda including infrastructure spending, and a plan for American families and workers- "It does not matter when, it does not matter if it's done in 6 minutes, 6 days or 6 weeks. We're going to get it done."

Earlier moderates looked to get infrastructure done earlier and progressives wanted the entire package to be done together. Biden opted for doing it all together, it wouldn't matter when.

Few remember it today, yet there was a period of players during the Ken Rosewall-Rod Laver period of the sixties and seventies that the lob and the drop shot were what made tennis exciting and fun. Ilie Nastase, a Romanian player of that time was adept at the drop shot and lob. Kurt Streeter of the NYT looks at the game of Spanish player Alcaraz and his frequent use of drop shots even from a distance that are taking tennis back to that era. In the woman's game Tunisian player Jabeur is also known for the drop shot. Marshmallows is a.k.a. for drop shots.

Inflation is receding as an issue in the 2024 elections as the CPI index dropped below 3% in July as reported by the Labor Department. It was 2.9% lowest since 2021. Greg Ip says when Trump is saying bacon costs 5 times more now he needs to find another supermarket. That is the joke as Trump is really getting ripped off. Ip says bacon prices are up 18% since 2020 when Biden took office. Trump says at rallies grocery prices are up 70%, Ip says fact correction -up 21% since January 2021 not 70%. Trump says gas prices are $5.00 a gallon. Fact correction- gas prices are $3.75 a gallon and falling, says Ip. Trump wildly exaggerates. Trump says he will cut energy and electricity prices by 50% in 12-18 months. His answer "Drill Baby Drill." Experts cited by Greg Ip say even if new offshore and onshore leases are given, increase in supply is marginal and years away. Gas prices are determined by the world price determined by OPEC and Russia, says Ip.  Trump will increase inflation says this report because of tariffs he plans of 60% on imports from China and 10% from other places. That would increase inflation by 1.4 to 1.7% say analysts. Greg Ip of WSJ offers more clues. Inflation linked bonds see inflation dropping to 2.2% in 2025 instead of 2.6% predicted earlier. This BBC report looks at the hundreds of thousands of jobs being created by Biden through clean energy investments and manufacturing across the US,  including in Republican held states. This is changing the economy in places like Dalton, Georgia offering new hope for the future after decades of neglect under Republican and Democratic administrations of Bush, Obama and Trump. It is only president Biden who has turned things around on infrastructure and manufacturing in America, and done something about it. With trillions of dollars in investment in infrastructure, clean energy and manufacturing this will change the face of America. Biden said this in the debate, yet most media people don't get it, and have their heads stuck in the past unable to see the great changes that are happening in America for the first time, changes that will shape the decades ahead.

Morgan McSweeney acquired power as an organizer removing Corbynite left politicians from the Labour party. He is from County Cork, Ireland, his father an IRA courier, who left Ireland to get a politics and marketing degree from Middlesex University. He helped Labour politicians in London during the Corbyn years and settled on Keir Starmer as the candidate for a shift to the center in politics. There was something strange about Labour's win in 2024 as it got only 34% of the vote and still a large majority. It now appears that this was a highly flawed win, as Starmer was never able to take positions on major issues without depending on McSweeney for advice and backtracking. Worse 50% of Labour's vote disappeared in 2026 polls by February hardly 2 years after the win in 2024, as the support McSweeney helped organize had no depth of conviction- most of it to Liberals and Greens under Polanski. The result is that even the Guardian is disappointed and says McSweeney installed Starmer as PM, and then made him "the most unpopular PM in history." Net favorability in Feb 2026 is -57 similar to Sunak of Conservatives in June 2024. A 75% unfavorable rating in Jan 2026. And 14 points below the Labour party in "like" ratings. Only 18% are favorable for Starmer. ...
