Ann J. Selzer who does the polling for the local Iowan Des Moines Register for three decades says- “It’s hard for anybody to say they saw this coming.” Yet the process does drive results. The only time Democrats did poorly in Iowa with reason was under Hillary Clinton, and it was clear that Obama did not have Tom Vilsack's back. Vilsack the three time popular governor of Iowa was Agriculture Secretary, yet Obama distracted by Silicon Valley did not give the support he needed. Joe Biden as president made Tom Vilsack one of, if not the most important part of his Domestic Agenda, underlining also to all that foreign policy would be driven by domestic agenda, and by domestic is meant in large part long neglected Rural America. Growing up as an adopted child in difficult childhood, Tom Vilack represented the best of Iowa and America in his public service in the state and the entire Great Prairie states that form the heartland of America's breadbasket, and for the world.   ...

In Feb 2026 after Minnesota protests and Agent Bovino violated rules set by Border head Homan, this is what Democrats want ICE to do- wear ID badges, no masks, and rules on warrants, on where agents can operate. Homan found Bovino's actions under Homeland Security head Kristi Noem's leadership to be not necessary to fulfill the mission of the organization, counterproductive when the goal was to ensure safety of the streets it actually created disturbance in neighborhoods. Minnesota presented a special case as actions in Tennessee and other states did not meet opposition of the kind it met in Minnesota. It was also a place where Kamala Harris's running mate Walz is governor who encouraged the protests. Now that there is some reflection on all sides Democrats are changing their position on abolish ICE calls by protestors to working to ensure ICE operates in ways that win confidence of neighborhoods that it is only enforcing the law and doing it in ways that Americans can accept without masks and military uniforms. ...

Ms. Powell Jobs, the wife of Steve Jobs of Apple has a long relationship with Kamala Harris since the days she ran for Attorney General of California. She has followed Kamal Harris's career in politics over 2 decades. It is a friendship of shared interests in arts and culture, in political philosophy, and shared feelings in being women in the spotlight, says this report by Theodore Schleifer in the NYT. It is less about money, though it sounds odd to say this, than in a shared sense of purpose and as women caught up in events at this time in history.

Vice President Harris speaks at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, about a fundamentally different economic vision for the country- one for the Middle Class and the other for the wealthiest in the country. "For Trump our economy works the best if it works for the people who own the skyscraper, not those who build the skyscrapers, those who wire them, the people who mop the floors." "I have pledged that a strong middle class will be the defining goal of my presidency. It is not about ideology, it is about common sense. It is just common sense." "Like generations before us let us be inspired by what came before us. I believe in what FDR called "bold persistent experimentation." "I believe in free and fair markets- in transparent rules of the road. To respect the rights of unions, and workers, and fair competition. And where this is violated I will hold them accountable. I believe the active partnership between the government and the private sector is the best way to unlock the opportunities in our Economy." ...

What Kamala Harris stands for on behalf of the workers and families of America, on behalf of the American people, for in Carl Sandburg's immortal poem "The People, Yes!" and for people struggling to make a living with food and housing costs, in the words of Tim Walz at the Democratic Convention- "So this is the part — clip and save it, and send it to your undecided relatives so they know: If you’re a middle-class family, or trying to get into the middle class, Kamala Harris is going to cut your taxes. If you’re getting squeezed by prescription drug prices, Kamala Harris is going to take on Big Pharma. If you’re hoping to buy a home, Kamala Harris is going to help make it more affordable. And no matter who you are, Kamala Harris is going to stand up and fight for your freedom to live the life that you want to lead, because that’s what we want for ourselves, and it’s what we want for our neighbors." ...

Referring to a mountain Orange Hill he once climbed and took his 2 children Kamala Harris's father, Donald Harris, a professor at Stanford from Jamaica, says Kamala bounded forward and ran through shrubs and over branches "like a gazelle in the Serengetti, with utter joy and unleashed curiosity" to explore that terrain. There are aspects of the Democratic nominee that remain from her father's encouragement of Kamala as a young girl. She reminded listeners at the Convention in Chicago how she remembered and did so to her father's words to go outside and explore- "Run, Kamala, Run."

As she speaks at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Harris speaks on innovation as the Spirit of America as it revives the Spirit of America to rebuild the Nation.

“There’s an old saying that the best way to predict the future is to invent it,”

“That is the story of the steel city – the city that helped build the middle class, birth America’s labor movement, empower the rise of American manufacturing; and the city where Allen Newell and Herbert Simon launched the first AI research hub at Carnegie Mellon.”

See Tim Walz's full speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, August 21, 2024 in his video from CBS News. Lyrarc has selected excerpts from Tim Walz's speech above showing what the Trump Republican party plans to do that will gut Social Security and Medicare, and kill the Affordable Care Act, gut efforts to lower exaggerated cost of medical drugs and healthcare. This excerpt shows what Harris will do to build a better life for workers and families and people across all 51 States, in education, childcare, healthcare, cost of living, and housing costs- "We’ve got something better to offer the American people. It starts with our candidate, Kamala Harris. From her first day — as a prosecutor, as a district attorney, as an attorney general, as a United States senator, and then our vice president — she’s fought on the side of the American people. She’s taken on the predators and fraudsters. She’s taken down the transnational gangs. And she’s stood up to powerful corporate interests. She has never hesitated to reach across that aisle if it meant improving your lives. And she’s always done it with energy, with passion and with joy. Folks, we’ve got a chance to make Kamala Harris the next president of the United States. But I think we owe it to the American people to tell them exactly what she’d do as president before we ask them for their votes. So this is the part — clip and save it, and send it to your undecided relatives so they know: If you’re a middle-class family, or trying to get into the middle class, Kamala Harris is going to cut your taxes. If you’re getting squeezed by prescription drug prices, Kamala Harris is going to take on Big Pharma. If you’re hoping to buy a home, Kamala Harris is going to help make it more affordable. Mr. Trump the Republican nominee for president dials into Fox New to speak just as Kamala Harris was making her speech and called Mr. Trump "an unserious man" who would bring "serious" negative consequences to the Nation if elected. Bret Baier and Martha McCallum were doing Fox News coverage as Kamala Harris made her speech. McCallum said at one point Kamala Harris was having some success with Women, Black and Hispanic voters, and Trump objected that it was not harris but he that was having success with Women, Black and Hispanic people. Trump's comments- "she didn't talk about China, about crime, fracking."  She talks about this and that, she would do this and that, but she did not do any of it, said the former president. This recalls president Biden's speech at the Convention in Chicago when he said Trump said he would do this every week, to fix America's infrastructure, and he Trump did nothing. He was not Coach, Trump said of Walz, he was Assistant Coach. After 10 minutes Baier heard Mr. Trump entering something on his phone and he ended the conversation with the former president., because they were running out of time. ...

Self-help aphorisms that are delivered with verve and conviction over and over from Kamala Harris come from Harris's mother Shyamala Gopalan.

"What can be, unburdened by what has been?" Harris herself is unburdened in this way, it appears as one sees her originality and style.

"A desire to honor the women who made history throughout history."

It looks at the changing relationship of Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris and cites Biden's view of Harris as "a work in progress." During the first year they were close. This interview conducted by Bret Baier of Fox News of the vice president Kamala Harris was more like a debate with a Republican nominee for president as Baier would not let the vice president finish several times. The interview took place on October 16, 2024, in an effort by Harris to reach voters who supported Trump but would consider alternative visions of the future than the one offered by the former president.
