Reliance Power's total capacity is expected to reach 5000 megawatts by Dec. 2012. The company plans to install total capacity of 35,000 MW. It is building a 3,960 MW thermal project at Tilaiya in Jharkhand state, eastern India. Another plant of the same capacity is being built at Chitrangi in Madhya Pradesh, central India. About 75% of the funding will be through debt. Relince is in talks with U.S. and Chinese banks to fund the $8.35 billion for these 2 projects. Loans agreements are in place for $5 billion from the Export-Import Bank in the U.S. and $12 billion from Chinese banks, funding that is coming as part of buying equipment from the U.S. and China.

Research by Allen Roses, director of Duke University's Deane Drug Discovery Institute, and continuing research on the ApoEgene that has aclose link with Alzheimer's. In 1993, Dr Roses's research showed that people who have avariant of the ApoE gene have an unusually high risk of developing Alzheimer's. THese studies have been repicated by other scientists. In research presented at the international conference of Alzheimer's deisease in Vienna, Dr Roses and this team show that they have found a gene linked to ApoE called TOMM40. This gene had mutations that involved a small number of extra copies of aparticular building block of DNA in some individuals and alarge number of extra copies in others. Individuals with alarge number of extra copies- knownn as the "long repeat" version of TOMM40- coupled with ApoE3 develop ALzheimer's an average of seven years earlier- at about 70 compared to the individuals have the "short repeat" version.

McDonald's has its first drop in same store sales since 2003, with a 1.8% decline for Oct. 2012. McDonald's faces more frugal consumers who are eating out less often, increasing competition from Burger King, Wendy's and other food stores. As Citigroup shares dropped to $3.77 a share last week abruptly losing 50% of their value in a week, the Federal Reserve, Treasury and the FDIC were in negotiations over the weekend with Citigroup. Mr Paulson had several discussions with Robert Rubin, influential executive and director of Citicorp. And Citicorp CEO Vikram Pandit spoke with regulators and lawmakers. The deal that was worked out is as follows. Under the deal about $306 billion of largely residential and commercial real estate loans and certain other assets, which will remain on the balance sheet, will be backed up by Citigroup and the government. Any losses will be shared in the following manner. The first $29 billion in losses on that portfolio will be Citigroup's responsibility. Any losses over the $29 billion will be shared 10% by Citigroup and 90% by the government. Of the government's losses Treasury will use $5 billion from the bailout fund, FDIC bear the next $10 billion in losses, and the Federal Reserve will guarantee any additional losses above this $15 billion. What will the government get in exchange? Citigroup will issue $7 billion of preferred stock to government regulators. In addition the government is buying $20 billion in preferred stock in Citigroup with all preferred shares paying a 8% dividend. The other aspects of the deal are that all dividend payments by Citigroup will be halted for 3 years, certain executive compensation restrictions, and Citigroup will put in place the FDIC's loan modification plan which is similiar to the plan it recently announced....
